About this event
About the performance: "Decoding Musical Taste – Live Experience is an immersive concert-lecture led by composer, musicologist, author, and Music Genome Project architect Dr. Nolan Gasser , inspired by the acclaimed PBS special released in 2025.
"Blending live performance, storytelling, and insights from neuroscience, psychology, and culture, the show explores the hidden forces that shape our musical preferences and why music affects us so deeply. Dr. Gasser is joined by his virtuoso band, The Mighty Mighty.
"Guided from the stage by Dr. Gasser, audience members actively participate throughout the performance by responding to prompts that explore their musical identity. At the conclusion of the show, each participant receives a personalized playlist generated from their responses, extending the experience beyond the venue and transforming how audiences listen to and connect with music long after the performance ends."

Gathering Place : We will meet near the picnic tables by the concession stand, on the side closer to the stage door. At 6:30 p.m., we’ll go to the hill and set up. If you can't make it at 6:30, we'll hold some space. Look for our location in the comments. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Google Maps Link
Seating for the Show : The hill is divided with the left side for chairs and the right reserved for blankets. We sit on the chair side. Blankets may have an obstructed view. We try to get space close to the center and front.
Drinks and snacks : Adult beverages are allowed. The city prohibits glass containers in the park. (We don't check and the city never has objected to discreet wine bottles.) It's always more fun when people bring something to share.
Parking : There are two main parking areas for Miller. The Zoo lot has more spaces Parking Lot F Google Maps Link The Centennial Gardens Lot has easier exits after the show Parking Lot C Google Maps Link
