About this event

Begin Advent Together

Mark the beginning of Advent with a beloved Cathedral tradition! Children, families, individuals, and friends of all ages are invited to make an Advent wreath to take home and use throughout the season.

Advent invites us to slow down, watch, and wait for the coming of Christ. The Advent wreath gives us a simple way to carry that practice into our homes. As another candle is lit each week, the growing light reminds us that even as the days grow shorter, we draw closer to the celebration of Christ’s birth.

At the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own wreath with materials provided by the Cathedral. Whether making an Advent wreath has been part of your family’s tradition for years or this will be your first one, you are warmly invited to join us. No special crafting experience is needed.

Come after worship, gather around the tables, enjoy time with the Cathedral community, and leave with something meaningful to accompany your household through the four weeks of Advent.

Everyone is welcome.

About the Advent Wreath

The Advent wreath traditionally holds four candles, one for each Sunday of Advent. Beginning with a single candle and adding another each week, the wreath becomes a visible reminder of our journey toward Christmas and of the light of Christ coming into the world.

Make your wreath at the Cathedral, then bring it home to light at meals, during prayer, or whenever your household gathers throughout Advent.
