Residents should check their mail this week as the spring edition of City Matters is delivered and is available for pickup at the library, Hometown Heroes, the Civic Center, City Hall, and the City Hall Annex—covering the LCPD Mental Health Unit, permit rules, and renting city facilities.
🎓 Education
League City staff, Clear Creek ISD Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle, CCISD board members, Gilmore Elementary Principal Sandy Varner, and students held a ribbon cutting on March 26 for the new connector trail and bridge that now lets neighborhood students walk and bike safely to school—funded entirely by the city with support from CCISD. The project provides a safe route to Gilmore Elementary for local students.
City staff joined Clear Creek ISD Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle, school board members, and Gilmore Elementary Principal Sandy Varner on March 26 to open an 8 ft concrete trail—complete with a 90,000-pound, 10 ft wide and 70 ft long bridge—that connects the campus to nearby neighborhoods and the Claremont Connector Trail for safe student travel.
🏛️ Government
The League City Public Works Department launched its Low Flow Toilet Rebate program on March 27—this effort gives property owners a rebate for replacing high-water use toilets with EPA-approved low-flow models that use 20% less water than current standards.
The city council refined conditions for accepting Rosenberg land and will require a clean environmental bill of health—pending environmental reviews—before moving forward.
