  • The BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors $20 pet adoptions at League City Animal Care from May 1 through May 15 to help ease shelter overcrowding. The shelter is open today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. + Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. + Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m.  City of League City
  • League City's Emergency Management Department is urging residents during National Hurricane Preparedness Week to get ready for hurricane season, which starts June 1 — it advises everyone to write down emergency plans, know evacuation routes, and check their insurance to manage flooding risks.   • Scott Higginbotham won League City's Position 5 race on Saturday with 50.18 percent of the votes cast - 2,595 out of 5,171 total - while Krysten Garcia trailed with 35.33 percent at 1,827 votes.  The Daily News (Galveston County)
