GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Galveston County commissioners adopted a $306.6 million budget based on a tax rate—$0.325660 that is slightly lower than this fiscal year's no-new-revenue rate and 2.4 percent less than last year's rate. The Daily News (Galveston County)
- ➤ League City Council will vote on Tuesday, September 9 on a proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget totaling $524 million, with $194 million for operations and $330 million for capital improvements that begin October 1. Mayor Nick Long discussed a plan that includes a no-new-revenue property tax rate of $0.36355 per $100 — lower than the current $0.369 — marking the eleventh consecutive decrease. City of League City
