Good morning, League City.

Gulf Copper and Galveston College have partnered on a shipfitting apprenticeship program to give students industry training and ensure Gulf Copper gets a pipeline of skilled workers—Doreen Bridges, Director of Continuing Education, said the program meets a growing industry need.

League City is making its first move to annex drainage district land, and the Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District said the plan is absurd and nearly impossible— it would disenfranchise Friendswood taxpayers.

At a meeting on September 9, League City Council approved a FY2026 budget that will fund operations with $194 million and capital improvements with $330 million, including extra emergency services positions and an additional ambulance.

The budget, effective October 1, also funds a new police special investigative unit—key projects include streetlight upgrades and pool renovations for improved public safety.
